St. Paddy’s Day Treasure Hunt

I love St. Paddy’s Day.  I really do!  I want my kids to have a great time too!  I was searching around trying to find something fun and stumbled across this site. This treasure hunt looked fun, so I thought I’d give it a try this year!

Boy did peanut have a blast with this….. Bumble bee didn’t really get interested in it…. but sure loved the rewards!!

While the kids were playing I went and hid all the clues.  We did the first clue together and I let the little man run the show from there!

As we got things going on the treasure hunt, Peanut got even more pumped about the Leprechaun bringing him a pot of gold!
(Notice Peanuts outfit…. mismatched socks, with shorts, it was like 30 degrees that day……)

The clues have different actions you have to do (skip, jump, walk backwards, etc) Bumble bee really got into doing them….. or not!

even if she didn’t find a single clue…. she’s adorable!

And there he left it!  Right in the fridge for us to enjoy!

I got some awesome sun glasses that light up and of course Bumble bee broke them within 5 minutes….. They pretty much devoured their jelly beans too (organic and allergy free of course!)

This was a lot of fun!  I’ve never seen Peanut so excited to follow directions (seriously).  Maybe next year Bumble bee will be a little more excited about it!

I’m hoping to put something together for an Easter egg hunt.  I think the cousins would love to join in on it too!

The Kid in All of Us

It seems like we’re always waiting to get to that next age.  A new milestone in life.  But suddenly we realize that being little isn’t so bad.  Then we long for the days to be a child again.

Well, being a parent lets us do that!  Who cares if your floors are sticky and your  bathroom mirrors are dirty?  Not your kids, that’s for sure!  I have to constantly remind myself that spending time with my kids is more important than what my house looks like.  It wont be long and I will be wishing that I had a little one to cuddle with.

I like to let the kids take their own carts shopping with us.  It keeps them busy and they get to help.  Double bonus.  Some people don’t appreciate this, but the majority of people think it’s adorable!

Can a little boy have too many cars?  Never!  Peanut loves his “racers”.  We’ll often get on the kitchen floor and race them across the kitchen.  This started one night at GG’s house and just stuck!

The kids are also big on having me build towers….. the reason?  So they can knock them down of course!  Bumble bee is great at this… sort of.  She wants to knock them down as soon as you start building them.  Often, they don’t get to be very tall!

Building forts is an awesome past time.  When I was younger, all the grand kids would get together at my grandparents and we would build the best forts ever.  There would be 7 or 8 of us and we would all be able to sleep in there.  I mean these forts were massive…. And awesome of course.  Peanut likes to sit on the couch and throw cars in the middle of the blanket.  Doesn’t really work that way dude!  We do enjoy our fort picnics tho!

Seriously, let them ride the pony.  Every time you go to the store.  Carry all the pennies you can with you!

The dreaded play doh.  Ugh, yes it’s a mess, but they have so much fun with it (and it will dry out soon, right?)  Play doh helps with creativity, so let them enjoy while they can!

Seriously, band aides are the best.  Bumble bee wants me to put one on…. 10 minutes later she wants it off.  Another 5 minutes go by and she wants another one.  What does it hurt, right?

Yes, Peanut has camo pants on, with a red Christmas shirt.  I’m often embarrassed by his outfits, but I don’t let it get to me.  That’s the fun part of being a kid.  Wearing what you like and not caring with other people think!

The kiddos love to play “dogs”.  I’ll give them some cereal or popcorn in a bowl and we all have to get down and eat it like dogs.  I must admit, it is pretty fun!

The moral of this post is that our kids really do grow up so fast.  Why spend all our time making our house look nice and running errands when all our kids want is to play with us.  As long as they have clean clothes and a clean area to play, don’t worry about the rest.  Enjoy your little ones!  You’ll have the rest of your life to keep your house clean!
